Power to the Morning!

Gillian Adamo

This morning I am creating my favorite power smoothie taught to me by my amazing aunty Aloe. He is quite possibly the most vibrant beauty I have ever met. Since he was a very young boy he has striven towards being as beautiful and healthy as he possibly can. Over the years he has found a way of eating that is so clean and works perfectly for him and it shows in his vibrant skin and vitality. Everything he ingests is Organic, and lots of Fresh fruit and veggies. He eats lots of kale with his yummy special tahini sauce, (which I will post in a later post stay tuned:), Quinoa, Nuts, and the odd pint of Acai sorbet;).

I think that is the key to health, finding YOUR way that works best for YOU, every body is different so what works for one may not work for you. Everything you ingest affects your everyday life, your skin, your energy, the way you focus, everything! Try after your next meal to close your eyes and tune into yourself and see "How does my body feel right now" , fed, too full, heavy, tired...etc. This is how you will start to find what works for you.

SO....This amazingly juicy yummy energy packed Power smoothie! Aloe has found a way to combine some amazing ingredients that will cleans your body and make you feel AMAZING!

Now I must warn you, when you cleanse you start to purge all those toxins that have been locked up in your body for so long. This is good its what you want, all that stuff will make you sick in the end if you don't get it out, but you may feel a little strange for a few days. Its ok just push through it and it will pass and you will start to feel better than you ever have! I PROMISE!

This is Aloe:)

|| INGREDIENTS ||                                                                                                                                   Buy all organic if possible. This Recipe makes 2 smoothies, you can save one for later in the fringe but should be drunken that day.

1 large arm of Aloe Vera, If you don't have an aloe plant near by you can buy pure aloe juice from your local health food store.

Half an Avocado Optional, I promise it makes the smoothie so creamy and extra yummy!

See what I mean about ARM of Aloe Vera?!!

Here are just a few of the good health benefits Aloe Vera has to offer.

1. Detoxifying

Aloe vera juice is crammed full of amino acids, vitamins and minerals making it one of nature’s most effective cleansers. ‘It can help strengthen digestion and rid the body of any nasty waste, thus detoxifying the body naturally,’ says Sebastian. ‘Its main property is to be soothing, cooling and moistening which helps to clear inflammatory and irritating heat, such as in menopause, plus inflammatory skin and digestive problems, such as acne, rosacea and IBS.’

2. Supports the immune system

Aloe vera is packed full of immune-boosting polysaccharides which help the immune system to behave properly. ‘Too much inflammation in the body can cause problems within the immune system and can cause conditions like asthma, eczema and Crohn’s disease. Soothing herbs like aloe vera juice can slow the inflammatory cascade and help reorder the immune response to prevent these conditions.’

3. Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar

There is some evidence to suggest aloe vera lowers cholesterol and has a positive effect on blood sugar levels, meaning it can be useful for treating diabetes and obesity.

4. Excellent for digestion

It's worth trying for anyone who suffers with digestion problems like IBS. Its healing and soothing properties can help with the painful symptoms.

5. An easy way to boost your vitamin and mineral intake

Aloe vera juice is packed with vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12 and folic acid. It’s also rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, selenium and potassium. Sounds pretty good, right?

6. Hair growth

Full of natural vitamins and enzymes that can directly promote healthy hair.

7. Good for burns, acne and hydrating skin

When used topically aloe vera can soothe inflamed skin and enhance collagen and hyaluronic acid to help rejuvenate skin.
